“Karina’s” Breaking Barriers experience was especially hard. Growing up with an abusive, absent dad and a mother who worked day and night to support the family, she had to practically raise herself. Karina’s childhood and adolescent relationships were dominated by a desperate need to be loved, but little by little through Breaking Barriers she began to see and let in the love she had not realized had been purposed for her all along. Her reactions had left her desolated emotionally, separated from God and others. During the final retreat, Karina was able to let go of the bitterness and lies that held her captive, taking in God’s words of love and purpose for her life as if for the first time
